The goat was domesticated 10,000 years ago in Iran. Today, it is very present in France, particularly in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region for milk production.

A goat produces an average of 925 litres of milk per year, or 3 litres per day. The lambing of the goats takes place at the end of winter or in spring and triggers the lactation of the goat which will last until the weaning of the kid.
