South West wine is produced in the departments of Ariège, Aveyron, Dordogne, Haute-Garonne, Gers, Landes, Lot, Lot-et-Garonne, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne - representing a total of 47,000 hectares of vineyards.
The region enjoys a mild and humid climate in the west. In the north-east, the winters are more marked. In the south, summers are often hot and dry.

Each year, 4 million hectolitres of wine are produced, with a large majority of red and rosé wines (80M) and dry white wines (20%).
